Congratulations to Ben Salango & Our Trial Team for Securing a $548,000 Verdict!

On August 30, 2014, Larry Keeling, Jr. was operating his motorcycle on Route 119 heading home from his son’s youth football practice. The defendant, Kevin Hanson, had loaded a trailer full of lumber at Lowe’s and was leaving Trace Fork Shopping Plaza in South Charleston, WV when he lost control of his vehicle. The speed of the truck and weight of the trailer caused him to spin out of control and cross the median into oncoming traffic. The lumber from the trailer spilled across Route 119 and caused Larry Keeling to crash his motorcycle. Larry sustained two displaced rib fractures and a torn MCL and ACL in his right knee. He underwent two surgeries and was forced to retire from his job as a laborer at McNeil Fence Company.

The insurance company stubbornly refused to settle the case prior to trial and offered only $25,000. After a four day trial, a Kanawha County jury awarded Mr. Keeling $548,751. This included $71,947 for medical expenses, $26,804 for lost wages, $75,000 for future lost wages, and $375,000 for pain and suffering. The case was tried before The Honorable Tod Kaufman

Congratulations to Ben Salango and our trial team for securing this verdict on behalf of Mr. Keeling.
