Class Action Against CAMC and Matulis Set for Trial

The class action lawsuit against Charleston Area Medical Center and Dr. Steven Matulis is proceeding.  A class certification hearing is scheduled for November 22, 2019 and a jury trial is scheduled for April 8, 2020.

Dr. Steven Matulis was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse of a female patient who was under anesthesia for a colonoscopy at CAMC in February 2016. Dr. Matulis was recently sentenced to 1 to 5 years in prison for this conviction.

A class action civil lawsuit was filed in Kanawha County, West Virginia against CAMC by female patients of Dr. Matulis. This lawsuit alleges that CAMC permitted Dr. Matulis to create a sexually charged environment in the endoscopy suite where CAMC nurses and other staff felt powerless to report his sexual misconduct and his abuse of unconscious patients. The lawsuit alleges that CAMC betrayed the trust of and failed to protect its female colonoscopy patients.

If you are a female and received a colonoscopy from Dr. Matulis at CAMC between January 1, 2013 and February 16, 2016, you may be entitled to compensation. Click on this link to contact us:  https://www.wvlawyer.com/contact-us/
